Mungindi
Mungindi is south of St.George along the Carnarvon Highway. Mungindi was named by the Aboriginal people and means “Digging for Water Place”. Located on the banks of the Barwon River that forms part of the QLD/NSW border, the town of Mungindi was declared in 1888.

Of interest - the cattle judging. This photo is from the Qld side of the Barwon River, looking towards the showgrounds. Owing to tick regulations, Qld cattle had to be judged on the northern bank.
